Junk Trader
A downloadable game
In this weird but mostly cozy game you are a junk trader, a proud if odd line of traders on an island cursed by strange magnetic anomalies, buy oddities in bulk, process them to their base components, sell them, and repeat while you explore the island and become friends with its other inhabitants to re-build your reputation and find the source of the odd events.
Reflections on the prototype:
- Is it representative of the core loop you wanted?
- Did it give you an answer to the question you posed, and if so, what is the answer?
- Remember the answer can be negative (i.e.: "this idea is not fun") and the prototype can still be a success!
- How would you change it, if at all?
- Where would you take the idea next?
1. I think it was relatively representative because I set up the inventory system which was one of the things I wanted to try to do and I got the skeleton of the package system which allowed me to test it on the board in class and it was reportedly relatively fun (although I would have liked to be able to show the whole package system).
2. I think the answer was positive, both my testers had fun (messing with the inventory and deciding on the package).
3. I would for sure have a finished digital system in place if I were to work on it a little longer (which I will)
4. I would like to get the core system of purchasing and processing down and move to a little more world creation so I could test the character profiles I have thought of and playtest a little more.
